SEND Developments

A Brief Update on SEND Developments.

The Department for Education has recently published proposals within its Schools White Paper outlining planned reforms to the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system in England.

The changes relate to how support for pupils with additional needs may be structured and delivered in the future. As with all national education policy developments, these proposals are subject to consultation and phased implementation over time.

This announcement will naturally be of interest to:

  • Parents of children with SEND who are following developments closely
  • Tutors who support pupils with additional needs
  • Tutors who occasionally work with local authority funded placements

At this stage, detailed guidance will continue to come directly from official sources. Families and tutors are encouraged to refer to published government information for full and up-to-date details.

As an agency, Personal Tutors does not provide policy advice. However, we remain attentive to national education developments that may affect pupils, families and tutors working within the sector.

We understand that changes to SEND provision can raise questions for families. Our role remains consistent: to introduce parents to carefully vetted, experienced tutors who provide individualised one-to-one academic support where appropriate.

An Informal Discussion

If you are exploring one-to-one tuition for a child with additional needs, you are welcome to request a list of suitable tutors. Parents can then speak directly with selected tutors to discuss their child’s individual circumstances and decide whether the approach feels appropriate.

If you would like us to explain how our introduction process works, we are always happy to outline the next steps.
